On Monday 20 January 2025, the Lord Mayor of Chester will be opening Chester Town Hall to residents and visitors.

The event is in support of the Samaritans' Brew Monday initiative.

Guests can enjoy the splendours of the building and learn about Chester's civic history: including why Chester has a Lord Mayor.

Cllr Razia Daniels said: "I am delighted to be able to support the Samaritans' important Brew Monday initiative, by welcoming people into Chester Town Hall to have a look around, enjoy a hot drink and to share this opportunity with others."

The event and refreshments are free, but donations to the Samaritans and the Lord Mayor's charities are welcome.

The Town Hall, at Northgate Street, CH1 2HJ, will be open from 11am to 3pm.

A special talk will take place at 2pm for anyone interested in learning why Chester has a Lord Mayor and a Sheriff.

Visitors are advised to only bring small bags into the Town Hall, as larger ones may be subject to searches.
