A public lecture taking place in Chester this month will feature an internationally renowned educator.

The lecture is part of the 46th Annual Conference of the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology (SRIP), which is being hosted by the University of Chester.

On Wednesday 16 September, professor of reproductive science at University College London, professor Joyce Harper, will deliver a public lecture titled 'Towards a new understanding of menopause: Growth and empowerment'.

Joyce has worked in the fields of fertility, genetics and reproductive science since 1987. She has also written over 240 scientific papers and published four books.

Her topics of interest are women's health, menstruation, fertility, menopause, reproductive health education, health and lifestyle.

An ambassador for Wellbeing of Women, she is also working on establishing support for mothers and daughters suffering from endometriosis and education about periods in schools.

Founded in 1980, the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology is an international organisation and charity which recognises that reproduction is a complex and multifaceted area of social, scientific and medical concern.

The annual conference has been organised by senior lecturer Dr Liane Hayes.

She said: "We are delighted that Professor Harper will be giving the public lecture at our SRIP conference this year, and I look forward to welcoming her to the University of Chester.

The talk will take place at the University of Chester's Best Building on the University's Exton Park campus.
