Independent city walls cafe to open next weekend
By Dherran Titherington 4th Mar 2026
An independent cafe is set to open on Chester's historic city walls next weekend.
Located at 5 City Walls, Crumb and Comfort will officially open its doors on Saturday 14 March.
Seeking to "enrich the local community", the team behind Crumb and Comfort have described a desire to create a welcoming space where people can gather and connect.
The independent coffee shop will be dog-friendly, with food and drink options for gluten-free and vegan diners.
The owner of Crumb and Comfort said: "As a women-owned business, my mission is to create a welcoming space where people can gather, connect, and enjoy quality food and beverages.
"Chester is a vibrant town with a rich culture, making it the perfect location for my cafe. The journey to launching my business has been filled with countless ups and downs, from securing funding to choosing the right location and designing the interior.
"Every step brings its own challenges, but it also brings excitement as I move closer to making my dream a reality."
The building was formerly home to Hanoi Social, a Vietnamese-inspired street food restaurant which closed in 2024. Having opened in 2018, the owners cited a "downturn in business" and "other internal challenges" as factors behind the closure.
