An independent bakery will open its first venue in Chester city centre next month, with plans to give away 200 free cookies on its first day.

Buzzy Bee, a Wilmslow-based business specialising in sweet treats, is set to open in Music Hall Passage on Saturday 7 March.

Owned by Millie and Lydia Walter, the Chester store is the sister's third venture - offering stuffed cookies, brownies and celebration cakes. Described as a "super small hole-in-the-wall location", the store will offer takeaway only, with treats baked fresh every day.

Having hit a "slight delay" with deliveries, the duo has pushed back their opening date, with the venue originally set to open later this month.

To mark the occasion, the business will be giving out 200 free cookies on its first day.

In 2012, the duo opened their flagship store in Wilmslow, before later expanding to Manchester's Northern Quarter.

Having trained as a professional chef at the Leiths Cookery School in London, founder Millie has worked as a Pastry Chef throughout London, Australia and Cheshire.

In 2018 she officially launched Buzzy Bee Bakery, soon selling her bakes at artisan markets across the country. Soon after, she was drawing in large queues for her baked goods, helped by her viral social media posts.

The following year, her sister, Lydia, joined the business, bringing a sales and marketing background to the team.
