'I’m not a career politician' - Labour candidate revealed for Cheshire West and Chester by-election

Labour's candidate for the upcoming Cheshire West and Chester by-election said he is standing because he 'cares about his community'.
Kris Fisher has been selected to contest Strawberry ward in Ellesmere Port in the October 2 by-election, which was triggered after Labour incumbent Gareth Gould quit for health reasons.
Six candidates are in the running, with Reform UK, Conservatives, Greens, Lib Dems and an independent also contesting the seat.
Mr Fisher was born in Strawberry and started the Strawberry and Hope Farm Tidy Tribe, a volunteer litter-picking group. He also assists with food collections for The Cupboard, a local good waste charity.
He previously worked in a fire service control room and now works for a firm which promotes green energy technology.
He said: "I'm standing in Strawberry because I care about our community and making sure that we keep good quality public services."
He added: "I'm not a career politician. I have a real job and I've served the public and worked in industry. I want to use that experience to fight for people in Strawberry and Hope Farm."
He said his priorities included a 'cleaner, greener Strawberry ward' and also singled out community safety as a priority should he win the vote.
He said: "Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live. I'll work closely with our local police community support officers, Labour Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner and community groups to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour."
A full list of candidates can be found here.
Residents in the ward will require photo ID to cast their vote. A list of acceptable forms of ID can be found here.
