Final rehearsals are underway at a Chester theatre for the staging of a black comedy based on an iconic board game.
Following on from the success of 'Allo Allo', Chester Little Theatre will stage 'Cluedo' from Saturday 8 November at 7.30pm.
Written by Sandy Rustin and based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, 'Cluedo' is based on the 1985 American cult classic film 'Clue', which starred Rocky Horror legend Tim Curry as Wadsworth the Butler, and Back to the Future's Doc Brown, Christopher Lloyd, as Professor Plum.
Directed for Chester Little Theatre by Lexie Fox-Hutchings, the play follows six strangers being invited to a very unusual dinner party at secluded mansion.
With a dead host, each of the guests has been given an alias and the butler offers a variety of weapons. In a game of whodunnit, the guests will need to solve the mystery and find the murderer before the body count stacks up.
"As both a comedy and murder mystery fan, I absolutely love the 1985 Tim Curry film 'Clue', which 'Cluedo' is an adaptation of," said director, Fox-Hutchings.
"When I found out that 'Cluedo' was available for performance in the UK, I couldn't wait to see how it had been adapted. As soon as I read it, I knew I wanted to direct it.
"Though it seemed very complicated, and it is, I have been blessed with a hugely talented cast and crew.
"I am very excited for audiences to see what we have achieved."
Full details of 'Cluedo' can be found here, where tickets can be booked online.
