Eastgate Square unveils striking heart display ahead of Valentine's Day
By Dherran Titherington 9th Feb 2026
One of Chester's most iconic spaces has been transformed with giant pink hearts ahead of Valentine's Day.
As of today (9 February), 28 large pink hearts have been suspended high above St. Michael's Arcade in Eastgate Square.
The eye-catching installation has been designed to "bring something sweet, fun and uplifting" to the city centre during the colder weeks of the year - in a bid to celebrate love in all its forms.
Visitors are also invited to tell their love story via a Valentine's activity at Eastgate Square, with a curated selection featured on the new big screen.
The favourite story will receive a ring from luxury jeweller Chisholm Hunter.
The arrival of the hearts also coincides with the opening of Eastgate Square's H Beauty store on 12 February.
Alongside this, guests can expect new seating areas, refreshed lighting and planting, alongside the launch of a new large-scale digital screen in The Square.
Set against the elegant architecture of St. Michael's Arcade, the installation follows the hugely positive response to Eastgate Square's Christmas decorations in 2025.
Designed with sharing in mind, the hearts provide a perfect backdrop for photos and selfies. Eastgate Square is also encouraging anyone looking for a memorable proposal setting to get in touch with the team.
Gary Martin, Director at Martin Property Group, added: "Seasonal installations like this play an important role in shaping how people experience the city centre.
"This display reflects our continued investment in Eastgate Square as a place to spend time, not just shop, enhancing the historic setting while creating moments that feel relevant, welcoming and memorable."
Lisa Rogers, Centre Manager at Eastgate Square, said: "St. Michael's Arcade is one of Chester's most beautiful spaces, and we wanted to do something that felt joyful and light-hearted.
"After the response we had to our Christmas decorations last year, it felt right to bring another moment like this into the city something that makes people smile, stop for a photo, or simply enjoy being here."
You can find the pink heart installation at St. Michael's Arcade until 15 March.
