A man has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following the death of a cyclist in Chester earlier this year.
Lee Stallwood died in the early hours of Thursday 21 May, following a collision on Hoole Bridge.
Nathan Howe, 32, of Thorndale Road, Sunderland, was later charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, and failing to report an accident.
In June, Howe denied the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, however he changed his plea to guilty at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 14 October.
Howe was set to stand trial in June 2027.
However, now facing potential time behind bars, he will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday 4 December.
After his death, Mr Stallwood's family described him as a "much-loved son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend", saying his kindness and humour "touched the lives of many".
Campaigners renewed calls for safety improvements at Hoole Bridge over the summer.
The petition, originally launched in 2019 and revived following Lee's death, calls for measures including a 20mph speed limit, improved lighting, safer crossings and better protection for pedestrians and cyclists.
