Council unveils plans for 400-unit specialist housing development

Over 400 units of 'specialist accommodation' could be produced over the next decade, as part of a new council initiative supporting individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism.
Cheshire West and Chester council has unveiled its specialist housing prospectus.
It has been designed to improve the quality and availability of accommodation for individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism.
Outlining the current gaps in housing provision, the document sets out a clear vision for the development of over 400 new units of specialist accommodation over the next decade.
Considered a key milestone in the council's adult social care accommodation and care model, it has been developed in collaboration with property experts and people with lived experience.
By identifying specific needs and opportunities, the document aims to foster meaningful dialogue and drive forward positive change.
The digital version of the prospectus is now available on the council's website and will be shared with stakeholders across the housing and care sectors.
The council has emphasized its commitment to ensuring all residents have access to safe, suitable and supportive accommodation, with the publication of this latest report.
