An investigation into a fire lit at the Minerva Shrine in Handbridge has been closed.
In August, a fire was lit at the base of the Grade I-listed Minerva Shrine. At the time, Cheshire West and Chester Council said it was treating the incident as a "suspected heritage crime".
Council officers began to investigate the incident alongside Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The council has now confirmed after a full investigation by Cheshire Constabulary's Heritage Crime Officer, no information was brought forward to help identify the culprit and the case has since been closed.
As part of the work, teams took samples and analysis of the fire debris and also attempted to locate relevant CCTV evidence.
A spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester Council said: "Unfortunately, no information that might help identify the culprit(s) was forthcoming and, in the absence of any positive leads, the case has been closed.
"Given the Scheduled status of the shrine, Historic England were kept fully informed of progress by the police throughout the investigation."
