Chester's annual Duck Race returns to the Groves this weekend.

Taking place on on Saturday 25 April, a range of family-friendly activities will begin at 12pm - including face painting, hook-a-duck, and colouring - before the ducks take to the water at 3pm.

Organised by The Countess Charity, the event is expected to attract around 100 businesses, each decorating and racing their corporate ducks to raise funds for the hospital's Extra Mile Appeal.

The appeal helps provide additional equipment for the Countess of Chester Hospital, such as bladder scanners, ultrasound scanners, and ECG machines.

With these items often shared between wards, the appeal will help staff work more efficiently by providing equipment that goes beyond core NHS provision.

Hickory's Smokehouse Chester is the main sponsor of the event, with Admiral Taverns supporting the raffle.

The Countess Charity said: "The Chester Duck Race is always a fantastic community event and a great opportunity to get involved locally. Not only is it a fun way to support the Countess Charity, but it's also a great way to promote your business.

"All funds raised go directly to The Countess Charity's Extra Mile Appeal, helping provide extra equipment for The Countess of Chester Hospital over and above NHS provision.
