Chester train station improvements near finish line
Works to improve customer facilities at Chester train station are nearly complete.
Delivered by Transport for Wales, the majority of the work at the station has now been ticked off.
The improvements completed to date include a brand new CCTV system, new and extended gate line area and new customer information screens.
There are also additional ticket vending machines, roaming mics and hearing loop systems.
Completed works also include a new quiet room, platform and concourse seating, refurbished toilets and a new changing place toilet.
There is a new water refill unit, cycle shelter upgrades and new signage and branding.
Transport for Wales has outlined its focus on completing the project, with a new ticket desk on the main concourse still yet to be completed.
Alongside this, the station will also be kitted out with a permanent passenger assist help-point.
TFW has re-designed the space, confirming the assist point will be delivered this year, subject to obtaining listed building consent.
A spokesperson for Transport for Wales said: "These station improvements offer tangible benefits to our customers and visitors at Chester.
"This significant investment really enhances the overall customer experience, and we would like to thank passengers for their patience while we complete the final phase of this customer facility improvement project."
The project forms part of Transport for Wales' (TfW) station improvement vision, which aims to deliver improvements to customer facilities at Chester station.
Starting in June 2023, the initial project was scheduled to be completed by Spring 2024.
At the time, the rail network said: "TfW is encouraging customers to plan in extra time to allow for potential disruption. "
