The public will be given rare access to parts of Chester Town Hall this summer during a series of guided heritage events.

Organised by the Lord Mayor's office, the programme will include free one-hour talks titled 'Tales from the Parlour and Treasures of the Lord Mayor's Chamber.'

The sessions will give visitors the chance to explore Chester's civic history, view historic regalia and treasures, and hear stories behind the city's mayoral traditions. Advance booking is required and tickets can be found here.

Families can also take part in a summer treasure hunt around the Town Hall during the school holidays.

Children can follow clues, solve puzzles and discover features of the historic building while learning more about Chester's heritage.

The treasure hunt is suitable for children and young people up to the age of 15, who must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Advance booking is essential.

The programme also includes an International Friendship Day event on July 27, featuring stories from Chester's past and a chance for residents to meet others at the Town Hall.

Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Margaret Parker, said: "Chester Town Hall is one of our city's most treasured buildings, and this summer we're inviting residents and visitors of all ages to come inside and explore its history, heritage and hidden gems
