Chester Racecourse's annual fireworks show will take place on Halloween this year.

Tickets are now on sale for the Lord Mayor's 'Spooktacular Fireworks', which will see the racecourse transformed into a carnival-themed space.

Taking place on October 31, the event will offer an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating, with children under five getting free admission.

Alongside this year's firework display, which will be accompanied by a Halloween-themed soundtrack, there will be a range of Halloween activities - including rides on the open course, stilts walkers, and fire performers.

The annual event raises funds for a range of good causes across the region, selected by both the Lord Mayor and Chester Race Company.

Last year's Fireworks Extravaganza raised £35,000 for local charities. Chester Race Company's nominated charity was Storyhouse, which received £10,000 off the back of the fireworks event.

The contribution has been used to help fund a range of community arts programmes, including the Creative Communities Team, which helps young people across the region develop skills and work experience in a unique and creative ways.

Steve Davies, COO at Chester Race Company, commented: "This year's Spooktacular Fireworks event promises something a little bit different to years gone by, as we're really leaning into the Halloween theme.

"The fireworks display itself is always genuinely incredible to watch, but this year's event also offers families an alliterative evening of Halloween celebrations outside of trick or treating. We hope guests join us in dressing up and getting stuck into the spooky festivities.

"The funds raised goes to some very well deserving charities. Seeing the money go straight back into our communities is very special, and we're grateful for the generosity of everyone who attended, donated and supported the event, including the staff who give up their time to host the event."

Councillor Margaret Parker, Lord Mayor of Chester, added: "This long-established event has become an important part of Chester's community calendar, and I am delighted to be able to support it as Lord Mayor.

"Not only does it provide a fantastic evening of entertainment, but it also helps raise much-needed funds for my chosen charities, Paws Angels, Tomorrow's Women and KidsBank Chester.

"These outstanding local charities make a real difference to the lives of people across our city and surrounding communities."

Kids under five go free and adult tickets start at £10. Tickets are available to purchase now on the Chester Racecourse website.
