A Chester pub which suddenly closed earlier this year is set to reopen next week.

The Lock Vaults pub in Hoole, Chester, had shut shortly after the previous tenants - David Keith and Carl Burleigh - had celebrated their first year of trading in December last year.

The reason for the Hoole Lane boozer's closure has not been confirmed.

However, owner Star Pubs has said it hopes the business will reopen once again next week.

"The Lock Vaults was leased to independent operators to run as their own business," the hospitality chain told Nub News.

"They advised us they were closing the pub.

"We are aiming to reopen it by the end of next week.

"The precise date is still to be confirmed."

This is not the first time the pub has had to shut, with previous tenants suddenly closing it back in January 2018, due to the building being 'structurally unsafe'.

The pub underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2022 and 2023 with a £400,000 investment.

After stripping down the once run-down venue, which was boarded-up and covered in graffiti, stylish new internal décor and a working fire were installed.
