A Chester primary school has received prestigious recognition for its oracy education.
Acresfield Academy in Upton has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Oracy by national education charity, Voice 21.
Over the past three years, the school has worked to embed oracy - the ability to express ideas, communicate effectively and listen to others - into every aspect of school life.
In all year groups, speaking and listening opportunities are now woven throughout the curriculum - recognising the vital role that communication skills play in children's academic achievement and personal development.
Headteacher Mike Dixon said: "We know just how important strong communication skills are for young people, not only in helping them succeed academically but also in giving them the confidence to express themselves, share their ideas and engage with the world around them.
"At Acresfield, oracy is not something we teach in isolation. It is firmly embedded in everything we do, ensuring that every child, from nursery through to Year 6, has opportunities to develop these essential life skills.
"This recognition is a wonderful milestone, but our journey doesn't stop here.
"We are committed to ensuring that every new generation of pupils continues to benefit from the work we have put in place.
He added: "A special mention must go to Mrs Carberry and Mrs Shanahan, whose passion and commitment have been instrumental in driving this work forward, alongside the fantastic support of all our staff.
"We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and, most importantly, the lasting difference it will make to our children."
