Chester Operatic Society will host its annual Christmas concerts this weekend.

Performed over two nights, this year they are taking the event across two venues.

Both concerts will follow Chester Operatic Society's traditional mix of songs, festive and sacred, combining group numbers with solos, duets and a couple of readings.

The society will be backed by their usual band, including piano, bass, percussion, flute and clarinet, and the audience will also have the chance to join in.

Chair of Chester Operatic Society, Will Shaw, told Chester Nub News a bit about what guests can expect. He said: "Guests are guaranteed to be sent home with both a rosy Christmas glow and with their toes tapping after our selection of Christmas songs.

"We firmly believe that a good sing helps both those doing it and those listening, so we're delighted to present our annual concerts and tell you that Christmas is coming."

Tickets are £16.50, and include mulled wine and a mince pie. You can book tickets online here.

Will added: "Our Christmas concerts are always some of our most popular productions. We ensure that everyone leaves feeling suitably festive and in a Christmas mood.

"We are varying our venues a little this year, to take our performances a little further around Chester.

"Next year we look forward to welcoming people to All Saints in Hoole!"

The first event will take place on Friday 13 December at St Werburgh's Church, at 7.30pm.

The second will follow on Saturday 14 December, at St Mary's Without the Walls, at 7.30pm
