Chester Northgate announces bank holiday Caribbean festival
By Dherran Titherington 14th May 2026
A three-day Caribbean festival is set to take over Exchange Square later this month, with street food, live performances and a pop-up bar planned across the bank holiday weekend.
The free event, organised by Chester Northgate in partnership with Turtle Bay and Caribbean lager brand Carib, will run from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May in the city centre square.
Visitors can expect an open-air jerk BBQ hosted by Turtle Bay, featuring meat supplied by Geoff Hughes Family Butchers and seafood from Chester Market Fishmongers.
A pop-up bar from Carib Brewery will also be on site, with attendees able to claim a free drink token by signing up to the Chester Northgate newsletter.
Organisers say the festival will bring "an authentic Caribbean feel" to Chester Northgate, with food, music and dance performances throughout the weekend. Live entertainment will include performances from the University of Chester Dance Society.
The event is part of a wider programme of activities aimed at increasing footfall and supporting businesses at the Chester Northgate development.
The festival will run from midday to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and from midday to 8pm on Sunday. Entry is free and no booking is required.
