Metro Bank officially opens in Chester

Metro Bank has now arrived in Chester, with an opening ceremony marking its 76th store in the UK.
The ceremony took place on Friday (4 July), with Chester's Town Crier David Mitchell officially welcoming Metro Bank to the city.
Samantha Dixon MP for Chester North and Neston led the ribbon cutting alongside the Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Sherin Akhtar.
Businesses, new customers and the local community were invited to attend the opening ceremony celebrations, with a 'fan zone' offering free bucket hats and tote bags over both days - alongside local business Krum Gelato providing complimentary sorbets.
The new store opening has created 11 jobs in the area alongside boasting longer Saturday opening hours than any other bank.

"This is an exciting moment for Chester," said Jamie Christon, CEO of Chester Zoo and chair of Marketing Cheshire, at a recent business event on Thursday evening.
"In a time when many high street banks are closing their doors, Metro Bank is opening theirs. That decision speaks volumes.
"It shows a commitment to people, to local connection, and to the belief that physical presence — real people behind real counters — still matters."
Samantha Dixon, MP for Chester North and Neston, added: "It's a real pleasure to welcome Metro Bank to Chester city centre.

"Their commitment to being a true community bank is a fantastic addition to our high street — offering not just vital banking services, but a friendly face and real support to local people and businesses.
"This ribbon cutting marks more than just a new branch — it marks a step forward in strengthening our local economy and community spirit."
Metro Bank's local director, Lisa Wortley, said: "It has been great to have such a warm welcome from the Chester community.
"Today is a milestone for us as we grow our presence. We're ready to serve Chester with our in-person relationship banking and business support and in turn drive local economic growth."
