Local campaign group wins award for environmental activism

A local campaign group has won an award for its environmental activism and enriching the local area.
At a recent ceremony, Chester Friends of the Earth was given The Earthmovers Award to commend the group's achievements over the past year.
Selected for its creative and engaging approach to campaigning, Chester Friends of the Earth has been involved in a number of successful local projects.
This includes launching a new monthly repair café held at Hoole Community Centre on the third Saturday of every month.
Chester Friends of the Earth was also noted for raising awareness of environmental issues with the local community - including river pollution, protecting forests and engaging use of social media.
Hannah Swettenham, coordinator at Chester Friends of the Earth, said: "The team have worked so hard over the last 12 months and we're so proud to have been recognised via this award.
"We've had so much fun bringing projects like Chester Repair Cafe and 10xGreener to Chester and we hope to do even more in the next 12 months.
"We're always looking to grow the team and new volunteers are always welcome."
Chester Friends of the Earth meets on the third Wednesday of the month, from 7.30pm-9pm at Bowling Green Court.
