Chester FC have announced the signing of Fin Roberts on loan from Crewe Alexandra.

The 18-year-old forward links up with the Blues, for an initial month, after joining the Alex on a two-year deal in the summer from Bromley.

Roberts made his professional debut back in August as a substitute in Crewe's Carabao Cup tie at Rotherham, before marking his first start for the club with a goal in their 5-1 EFL Trophy win over Liverpool.

Roberts caught the eye of Alex scouts while on loan at Isthmian League side Beckenham Town, where the teenager was their top scorer and also named Supporter's Player of the Season.

Manager, Calum McIntyre, said: "Last season, we probably weren't in a position to strengthen the squad immediately after Christmas and this may have played a big part in how we finished the season.

"We feel that this time around, it is important to add to what is already a very strong squad for the second half of the campaign.

"We feel we have acted decisively in recent weeks to free funds up to reinvest in the squad and this is part of that.

"We aren't solely in the loan market but that is a big part of recruitment for this level midway through the season.

"There will be more bodies coming in as we seek to cement our play off spot."

McIntyre highlighted the young player's reputation at Crewe, and the talent he'll be bringing to the club.

He added: "He was recruited during the summer having impressed in Non-League which was a key factor in committing to bring Fin in on loan.

"He can play in a variety of forward positions, both centrally and wide and that is really important for us.

"When loaning young players in, you have to do everything you can to get them right.

"Fin's standing at Crewe and his experience in Non-League means that we feel that is a good addition for us.

"I'm really looking forward to working with him and seeing what he produces for us."
