A Chester FC fan who has followed the club for more than 50 years has been given his own dedicated seat at the Deva Community Stadium.

Jon, 56, has been named the winner of a special fan competition run by club partner, AdVantage Sponsorship.

As a long-time Chester supporter, he originally attended matches alongside his dad, later continuing the tradition with his own son Curtis. The pair now share season tickets and travel around the country together to support Chester FC.

However, in recent years, Jon's ability to attend matches became increasingly difficult due to serious health issues. The cold conditions at games could leave him suffering from chest infections and exacerbations of COPD and emphysema.

After making changes to his lifestyle over the past nine months, Jon has lost five stone, managed his diabetes and completely changed his approach to health.

In an attempt to celebrate his all he has achieved, Jon's wife entered him into a special competition to win his own dedicated seat at the Deva Community Stadium.

"Anyone that knows Jon will know that he has always been a sociable person and to not be able to attend the football matches due to his health did affect him emotionally," she said in her entry.

"He is now looking forward to the season ahead alongside our son with a great positive attitude to life."

Jon was selected as the winner by AdVantage Sponsorship, which felt Jon's story stood out as a special example of what football can mean to people.

He has since been presented with his own dedicated seat at the stadium, which will carry his name throughout the 2026/27 season.

The initiative was designed to highlight a new way for Chester supporters to celebrate the people who make the club special to them.

Fans can dedicate a seat to a parent, child, partner, friend or someone whose memory they want to keep close to the club – creating a permanent reminder in the stadium throughout the season.
