A pair of childminders based in Hoole have recently received an outstanding Ofsted report.

The Nature's Nest is a family run, home-based childcare based in Chester with a heavy emphasis on children learning through nature.

In the reports, both childminders were highly praised for the children's behaviour, their commitment to fostering a welcoming, safe and 'harmonious' environment and their collaborative approach to the job.

Eleanor Astbury is one of two childminders at the childcare centre.

Her creative and stimulating style of teaching was highlighted in the report, as she uses practical demonstrations, stories and encouragement to help children learn new ideas and concepts.

She also teaches the children sign language and organises regular outings in the local community, such as the local cenotaph for remembrance day.

Eleanor's commitment to fostering independence and safety for children was demonstrated in their confidence with road safety.

The report said: "Children are taught how to keep themselves safe. "For example, they know how to safely cross the road. "Children remember that they need to stop, look and listen for vehicles before they cross.

Mark Astbury, who works alongside Eleanor, was referred to as 'an outstanding role model', who is 'deeply passionate' about his work with children.

The report highlighted the attention Mark devotes to each child, listening attentively when children are talking and treating them with 'the greatest respect'.

He was also commended for their trips to the local care home, where the youngsters are able to participate in activities with the elderly residents.

Highlighting the benefit of these outings, the report said: "This helps to develop children's understanding of the different people in the community in which they live and affords real-life experiences upon which to build their knowledge."

On their Facebook page, The Nature Nest celebrated the results as they said: "We are so immensely proud to share the findings of our latest Ofsted inspections last month.

"As we both are fully registered childminders we are inspected separately, resulting in two reports.

"The Nature Nest are OUTSTANDING in all areas.

"Whilst I don't for a minute believe Ofsted get the full picture in a one-day snapshot, it does feel incredible to have the dedication to our work recognised and I think these reports speak for themselves."
