Boutique hotel with private spa and deluxe suites could be coming to grade II listed Chester building

Plans have been lodged to transform a grade II listed building on Lower Bridge Street into a boutique hotel.
Featuring 19 rooms, with a mix of two-bedroom suites, double and deluxe king rooms, all would boast a private en-suite, dressing area and coffee station.
Proposals include provision for three deluxe king bedrooms, one accessible room and one two-bed suite.
Situated on Lower Bridge Street, the building could be repurposed "to expand the commercial offering" and "meet local demand".
Part of these plans include internal works, such as implementing a private spa and shop at ground level, alongside a communal car park to the rear.

The hotel spar would have a reception area, treatment rooms, changing facilities, a sauna and jacuzzi room.
The building also benefits from a shared rear access with "ample" off-street parking.
Initial pre-planning discussions were held with Cheshire West and Chester Council's conservation team, which confirmed "the principle of the development was acceptable".
The submitted application claims the proposals were "well received", with minimal harm to the listed building likely.
It said: "The current building remains inefficient and unsuitable to the applicants' business needs.
"The overall intent was to achieve a development that is fit for purpose, sustainable in the long-term and better represents the quality of the existing historic building.

"The design is sympathetic to both the existing property as well as the surrounding context.
"The proposals has been designed to carefully and considerately respond to both its listed status and the surrounding environment to provide additional tourism accommodation within the busy city centre location.
"Parking provisions are to be achieved by the use of the existing adjacent parking provisions on site.
"Following the design development, we have arrived at an approach which addresses the applicants requirements whilst also considering the impact on the immediate site, amenity and historic context."
Park House was built in 1717, with a number of uses over the years - most recently occupied as an office.
