A body has been found as part of a search for a missing Chester student.
William Webb was reported missing on Sunday 23 November, having last been seen in the Northgate Street area of Chester at around 4am that morning.
With searches for the 21-year-old ongoing since his disappearance, officers located a body in the Shropshire Union Canal on Monday 24 November.
Formal identification has not been confirmed, but it is believed to be that of William.
His family have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Murray said: "This was a young man who had his entire life ahead of him and in what will be a difficult time for them, I would like to extend our thoughts to William's family, friends and everyone who knew him.
"Despite this not being the outcome we hoped for, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues from the Constabulary and the Northwest Underwater Search Team for the utmost professionalism they have shown throughout, as well as William's family, friends and the local community who all helped with the search for William."
