A children's cookery franchise has launched in Chester, bringing weekly cooking classes designed to teach kitchen skills and encourage healthier eating habits among children.

Cook Stars, which operates in more than 60 locations across the UK, has recently expanded into Chester, offering structured cooking sessions for children aged 2 to 17.

Francesca Sykes, who is leading the Chester launch, said the aim is to make cooking both accessible and enjoyable for busy families.

"Parents know how important cooking is, but it can be hard to fit in around busy schedules," said Francesca. "Our classes are hands on, fun, and truly make cooking child's play."

Cook Stars sessions are split into age groups, including Minis (2-5), Juniors (5-11), and Academy (11-17), with activities tailored to each stage of development.

The programme introduces younger children to basic kitchen skills through play, while older participants are guided through more advanced techniques and recipes.

Each session includes all ingredients and equipment, along with aprons, packaging, a snack, a craft activity, and a printed recipe card to take home. Menus change weekly, exposing children to a variety of cuisines and encouraging them to try new foods.

Francesca said families are often surprised by what children are able to achieve in the kitchen.

She added: "Children are incredibly capable - parents are often amazed at what they produce with us. When kids help prepare their own food, they're more willing to taste and enjoy new ingredients."

Safety is a key focus of the programme, with trained and DBS-checked staff leading sessions. The franchise also operates an allergy-aware approach, with adaptations made where possible.

The Chester launch includes an introductory offer for new families, with a 'buy one class, get one free' promotion available for a limited time.
