Arthouse Chester closes its doors

A local independent eatery has permanently closed its doors, citing rising costs and difficult trading conditions.
Based on Bridge Street, The Arthouse officially closed yesterday afternoon (5 May).
It first opened in April 2022, based within independent home store Bloom and Albion. In September that year, the store went online - leaving Arthouse to take over the premises.
Over its three years in the city, the non-profit business created a diverse multi-use space, providing a café as well as an area for events and creative activities.

Arthouse also hosted private workshops for larger groups - such as hen and baby shower parties, alongside hosting diners in its unique medieval crypt with an extensive food and drinks menu.
The restaurant announced the news over social media, where current weekday trading conditions and rising costs were listed as factors.
The post said: "It is with deep sadness we are letting you know that The Arthouse will be closing its doors for good at 4.30pm on Monday 5th May.
"It has been a very difficult decision to make, but necessary due to the current weekday trading conditions and the rising costs we face as a small independent non-profit business.
"We are devastated to have to lose what we've created over the last few years and so sad for our amazing team that have helped make the Arthouse what it is.
"Thank you to everyone who has visited us, worked with us, ate with us, drank with us, supplied us, got married with us, attended workshops, parties and the many events we have held in this amazing building, 12 Bridge street, Chester."
