Position Overview

The Reserve is an exciting development of 51 savannah inspired luxury lodges, overlooking a beautiful lake or our giraffe habitat and connecting directly to the stunning Heart of Africa zone of Chester Zoo. From immersive experiences to quiet relaxation, The Reserve is a place to make lasting memories.

The Role

As Sous Chef, you'll play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You'll assist in leading a passionate team, help create inspiring seasonal menus, and ensure every dish served reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and creativity.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management
• Lead, motivate, and develop junior chefs
• Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
• Assist with ordering, stock control, and waste management
• Help design and execute menus that align with the resort's unique identity
• Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and allergen procedures

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-quality kitchen environment
• Creative flair with a focus on fresh, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients
• Strong leadership and team-building skills
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and follow health and safety regulations
• Calm under pressure, with excellent organisational abilities
