Development Engineer

A busy house builder seeks to appoint a Development Engineer to join their regional office in the North West. The company started as a small family run business and have expanded gradually over the years creating an enviable reputation, built on quality, customer service and delivering high standards. They are now one of the top 10 house builders building new properties ranging from 1 bed apartments to luxury family homes across the UK.

Development Engineer Role

Supporting the Engineering Manager, the Development Engineer will be responsible for the management of a number of developments and will be expected to prepare all relevant engineering information to a high degree of accuracy and to deliver on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside senior team members to gain relevant experience in day to day duties
  • To control and co-ordinate all engineering information between external consultants and internal departments.
  • To check all engineering drawings and details for accuracy, correctness and commercial suitability.
  • Ensure technical approvals are received for s38 and 104 agreements.
  • To liaise with external consultants to ensure deadlines are met.
  • To apply for and secure statutory body approval of Engineering Design and Ground Remediation.
  • To attend site visits and meetings, as required, in order to resolve any problems that arise during the construction process.
  • To attend design meetings with highways and drainage departments to ascertain requirements from a council perspective for new developments.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to the site teams.

Skills & experience required

The successful candidate will have a strong Design/technical background, either with a Consultancy or a House Builder

  • Sound working knowledge of all CAD and other software civil engineering packages
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice
  • Knowledge of specific design and specification features with regards to road and sewer agreements and maximise value to the Company.
  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a Construction / Engineering subject with relevant experience
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards.
  • Strong communication, listening and presentation skills with the ability to be able to build effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
