Hours: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

We are seeking an inspiring individual to join our Personal Development Tutor Team at our Ellesmere Port and Chester Campuses as the Team Leader. This role involves line managing a team of Personal Development Tutors, delivering high quality and effective tutorials, monitor and ensure attendance is high, undertake group tutorials and 1:1s and work closely with curriculum areas and other departments to ensure good outcomes for all learners. This position will also play a key role providing pastoral, welfare and initial safeguarding support for learners and supporting the College to provide wrap around care for learners.

  • Managing difficult situations such as safeguarding concerns, with a calm approach

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line manage and support a team of Personal Development Tutors within the campus area in the delivery of a high quality, engaging, relevant tutorial programme and effective 1:1 reviews;
  • Overview and ensure attendance is robustly challenged and monitoring arrangements are in place to support learners to attend;
  • To carry a small caseload of learners and support them in group tutorials and 1:1s;
  • Undertake a key role providing pastoral, welfare and initial safeguarding support for learners and support the College to provide wrap around care for learners;
  • Act as a point of contact for referrals and to make appropriate referrals; and
  • To work closely with curriculum and other departments to oversee the support and the quality assurance for attendance, progress and progression.

Key Person Specification Requirements:

  • Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject (or equivalent);
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent);
  • PGCE/Cert Ed/Level 3 Education and Training (or equivalent) or actively working towards one of the qualifications;
  • Good understanding of the personal development themes covered in a group tutorials;
  • Ability to deliver effective group tutorial sessions, including those on more sensitive topics;
  • Awareness and understanding of what constitutes excellent pastoral, welfare and academic support;
  • A clear understanding of the importance of student target setting, monitoring and reviewing to ensure achievement and a positive outcome for students;
  • The ability to lead a team and ensure that departmental outcomes are achieved and
  • Enhanced DBS check.
