Job Title Position: Planner Location: Chester
Role Overview
Penguin recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and dynamic Planning Team in Chester! We are seeking a driven individual to support and enhance the planning consultancy services. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across our 800-strong business, identifying cross-divisional opportunities and cultivating new client relationships. You'll lead innovative planning projects with a diverse workload, from rural diversification schemes to bespoke residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Caseload Management: Independently manage and prioritize your project caseload.
- Client Service: Deliver exceptional work and service to clients, ensuring satisfaction.
- Site Reviews & Strategies: Prepare initial site reviews and develop site-specific strategies.
- Bespoke Client Advice: Provide tailored advice to clients on planning matters.
- Planning Applications: Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications, including detailed reports.
- Relationship Building: Establish strong working relationships, managing project teams including architects, landscape architects, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Positively engage with clients, Planning Officers, Councillors, the public, and statutory bodies.
- Project Leadership: Lead project meetings and negotiations to secure optimal outcomes for clients.
- Team Collaboration: Support team members by sharing advice, workloads, and working on joint projects.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgets, time recording, and invoicing for projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- MRTPI Qualification: Ideally MRTPI qualified or nearing submission.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with initiative.
- Team Player: Collaborative and supportive approach to working within a team.
- IT Proficiency: Good understanding of Microsoft Office and general IT skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in work.
- Time Management: Excellent ability to manage time, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Market Understanding: A good understanding of the planning market.
