Job Title: Financial Controller - Maternity Cover - 6 months

Location: Chester City Centre

The Role: A varied and hands-on role reporting directly to the Managing Director, providing exposure to both technical reporting and commercial analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full finance function and leading the month-end, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce the monthly management accounts and reporting pack, including variance analysis

• Complete month-end postings and close processes

• Prepare monthly revenue forecasts

• Produce quarterly board packs

• Prepare budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and financial plans

• Undertake cash flow forecasting

• Process Corporation Tax payments and reconciliations

• Oversee financial year-end close and liaise with external accountants to produce statutory accounts for two legal entities

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns

• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations

• Manage monthly payroll and ensure payroll taxes are applied appropriately

• Administer company pension and medical insurance schemes

• Process supplier payments

• Maintain and oversee the Xero accounting package

• Manage and support an Accounts Assistant

• Provide ad hoc analysis and project work as required by senior leadership

The Candidate:

• ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant or QBE

• Proven experience in producing management accounts and financial reporting

• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

• Confident in managing month-end and year-end close processes

• Experience with Xero is desirable

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• Strong organisational and communication skills

The Package:

• Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm
